I went to Istanbul, Turkey, just the other week to deliver a Keynote speech on Social Investing. The Conference was WEBIT Here is a photo I took of modern Istanbul

and below a photo of me talking to the Moderator of my Talk: #BenRooney of the Wall Street Journal
Ben was genuinely interested in my subject and talk and asked to do a video and article interview for his paper - blog - this is the result: http://blogs.wsj.com/tech-europe/2012/10/12/israels-rather-different-social-network This interview centered on the work of Israel Venture Network - IVN where I am a founder member and Director of the Board since 2001. I am very proud of the pioneering work we have accomplished in Israel to help drive social change for the under-served populations of the country - $21 million in programs on the ground since our inception. I also did a Live Broadcast on prime-time Turkish Television on the same subject, and you can see that here though for some reason it's not letting mehttp://www.typepad.com/site/blogs/6a013482149286970c0133ef4ed909970b/post/6a013482149286970c017ee4f8d1f2970d/edit?saved_added=n# actually upload it here :-( so try this url instead: http://tvarsivi.com/player.php?i=2012100370655 : I was greatly helped in Turkey by some wonderful new colleagues and friends, #OzlemDenizmen, Strategist and Financial Literacy Advocate and Implementer, and founder of her own media platform empire to drive financial literacy for women in particular (she and I did a great panel together at DLD Women in 201 - you can read about her at: http://paradurumu.tv/kurumsal/3-about-ozlem-denizmen; and by Cansen Basaran-Symes, Senior Partner of PWc in Turkey :-) . Here is a photo of me and her my last night in Istanbul.
- AND by the enterprising Burak Sayin of Paprika PR and Media who helped me obtain some of my interviews and helped me get around the nightmare traffic of this amazing city. he also introduced me to Windowist ( www.windowist.com)- a modern management company where outsiders can quickly set up a temporary all comms, modern hi tech presence in a smart secure building in the heart of the city - . Here is a photo of him in the TV Studio, suddenly a little worried at being told he might have to do simultaneous translation of my interview (pheeeew the interpretor showed up ) lol

Great to see your work on social entrepreneurship. The Indus Entrepreneurs (TIE) group in Silicon Valley also has a social entrepreneurship SIG. TIE has 48 chapters all over the world....

Thanks, Yes I do know about TIE group, and now I will go check out their SIG - My 6 years of managing, growing and developing the Social Entrepreneur Fellowship Program of IVN (www.ivn.org.il) has now evolved into expanding work and effort around social enterprise and investing in social enterprises. Very exciting. If you will be in IL on November 20th, we are hosting a large conference on Social Investing with Ronald Cohen and Glenn Yago and other great speakers - Happy to send you or others an invite!
